Our journey began in 2008, founded by the dynamic duo Sujeewa Herath and Nishanthi Widanage, whose love for badminton transcended into creating a retail haven. From our humble beginnings at No. 2, Sri Soratha Mawatha, Gangodawila, Nugegoda, we expanded our horizons with a state-of-the-art one-stop shop at 76, D L Pathirage Mawatha (Wanatha Road), Gangodawila, Nugegoda.

Born from a deep-rooted passion for badminton, Captain Sports initially focused exclusively on badminton gear, resonating with the founders’ legacy in the sport. Sujeewa and Nishanthi aren’t just entrepreneurs; they are celebrated badminton players, with Nishanthi lauded for clinching the National Championship in 1990. This sporting spirit is woven into the fabric of our brand, which proudly introduced the acclaimed Chinese brand “VS” (VENSON) to Sri Lanka, becoming the registered sole distributor of VS products in the country.

In 2019, we expanded our wings, embracing all sports disciplines by offering a comprehensive range of equipment, apparel, and footwear, featuring globally renowned brands. Our latest venture, opened on 6th February 2019, marks a new chapter in our commitment to the sporting community, providing an all-encompassing retail experience for every athlete.

Beyond our retail achievements, Captain Sports is a staunch supporter of the sporting community. We actively contribute to the growth and development of sports, with a particular focus on badminton. Our involvement extends to sponsoring numerous events, including the prestigious Mercantile Badminton Tournament, underscoring our commitment to nurturing talent and promoting sportsmanship across Sri Lanka.
